KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Monday, June 19, 2017 – A Kansas City road trip ended in Splitsville for the Des Moines Menace women this weekend.

In a Saturday-Sunday doubleheader, the Menace won 2-0 against the Kansas City Courage on Saturday and lost 3-0 to the GSI Pride, a day later.

“In that first game, with the hot weather and traveling, the girls adapted well, and in the end they played with a little more urgency as the game went on,” Menace head coach Justin Vorster said. “And with two games in two days, they played as well as possible in that circumstance on Sunday.”

Saturday’s win saw a goal from Rebecca Rodgers in the 67th minute, Nicole Hatcher’s through-ball assisted Rodgers’ team-leading third goal of the season. Shortly after, Jermaine Seoposenwe scored on a free kick in the 78th minute.

The Menace held off the Pride on Sunday until the second half, when Cecilia Kizer (58th) minute, Parker Roberts (66th) and Kaira Houser (88th) scored to seal the win for GSI.
