Thunderstorms spoiled the Menace's June 30 match with Union Dubuque FC. The next home action is a July 6-7 doubleheader with Chicago FC United.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Saturday, June 30, 2018 – Tyler Limmer, Marcel Berry and the Des Moines Menace did their part in tonight’s exhibition match against Union Dubuque FC.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans. A thunderstorm has forced the Menace to cancel tonight’s match at Valley Stadium.

With lightning rolling in, the teams cleared the field in the 41st minute. After about 30 minutes of unrelenting rain accompanied by steady flashes of lightning, and with no end in sight, the game was cancelled.

The Menace was up 2-0 against its foe from the United Premier Soccer League. Berry assisted Limmer’s goals in the ninth and 11th minutes.

UP NEXT:  It’s on to the last two weekends of the season. Des Moines will be at home the next two Fridays and Saturdays, with hopes of hosting the Premier Development League Playoffs on July 20-21.

In a showdown between the Heartland Division’s top two teams, the Menace (10-0-1) hosts Chicago FC United (6-3-1) this coming weekend. A Fireworks Friday (July 6) gets things started.
