All the scoring came in the second half, as the Menace found some mojo against the KC Courage on Saturday at Valley Stadium.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Saturday, June 30, 2018 – With all of the goals coming in the second half, the Des Moines Menace women found their groove in a 4-0 win over the Kansas City Courage.

Cassie Rohan, Halie Reznik, Haley Helverson and Mandy Pochobradsky scored in today’s Women’s Premier Soccer League action at Valley Stadium.

“I’m extremely excited. We were very dynamic today,” Menace head coach Justin Vorster said. “We were patient and in the end we got the result.”

The Menace broke through the Courage’s conservative defense in the 51st minute, when Rohan took matters into her own hands. She made a couple nifty moves, shaking off a pair of defenders in the box to free herself for a pinpoint shot that went in off the goal’s right post.

Des Moines continued to stretch KC’s defense, finding gaps and stretching the lead with goals in the 75th, 78th and 90th minutes.

“I thought we played really well,” said Izzy LaFollette, who assisted Reznik and Pochobradsky. “Once we regrouped at halftime, it was a lot better. The first goal gave us some confidence, and it started getting better from there.”

This match ended with the same score as the teams’ previous meeting, two weeks ago in Kansas City.
