Menace at Kansas City Thursday

By Des Moines Menace, 05/26/09, 3:15PM CDT

The Des Moines Menace takes its unbeaten streak of nine games -- dating back to last season -- to Kansas City where it tries to remain the only unbeaten team in the division.

The Menace (3-0-2) travels to Liberty, Mo. to take on the Kansas City Brass (1-4-0) on Thursday at 7:30 at William Jewell College.

After a couple hard fought draws against St. Louis the past two Saturdays, the Menace is looking to add a mark to win column.

The Menace is currently in third place behind the St. Louis Lions (3-1-2) and the Real Colorado Foxes (5-2-1). With a win against Kansas City, the Menace would move up to second place before their weekend off from divisional play.

Last season the Menace swept the three match series against the Brass. Thursday night will be the first of three meetings this season between the two Heartland Division foes.

SCOUTING KANSAS CITY: The Menace has a 7-2 record against the Brass since 2005 when Casey Mann took over.

The Brass was unable to pull out a victory last year with all three games against the Menace having a one goal differential. The deciding factor in last years’ last match between the two was a pair of penalty kicks that the Menace scored on.

Kansas City finished 5th in the Heartland Division last year with a record of 6-9-1. The Brass is currently 5th in the division with its one win which came in a 5-2 victory over Springfield.

Matthew Klaus leads the Brass offensively with three goals and one assist on the season. Jeremy Warman and Brian Wurst each have one goal and one assist.

Jefferson Roblee is 92-62-12 as Kansas City’s head coach.
