Menace Enjoy Exhibition Match Against Wizards

On Monday the Menace traveled to Kansas City to take on the Wizards in an exhibition match at Swope Park. Despite losing 3-0, the team played well and enjoyed the opportunity to play against some of the top-caliber players in the U.S.

KANSAS CITY, KS - May 25, 2009 -  The Menace took a special trip to Swope Park in Kansas City on Monday to face the Kansas City Wizards in an exhibition match.  Despite losing the match 3-0, the players had a great experience and enjoyed playing agsint the highly-talented Kansas City team.

"Our guys battled really well," commented Head Coach Casey Mann about his players performance against the Wizards.  Kansas City's team consisted of some reserve players as well as others who see regular action in the MLS.  Hercules Gomez, a former MVP with the LA Galaxy, scored one of Kansas City's three goals in the match.  In addition to Gomez, two former Menace players, Michael Krause and Kevin Souter, also suited up against the Menace.

After the game, one of the Wizards players was kind enough to give his jersey to a Menace player.  "Overall our guys had an amazing experience," stated coach Casey Mann.  "Matches like these provide great experiences for our players and I hope we can continue to schedule them in the future."

The Menace will be back in action this Saturday against the St. Louis Lions at Valley Stadium.  Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.   It's Black-Out Night presented by Sheraton West Des Moines, where all fans wearing black receive $5 admission to the game.  Saturday's game also features Sheraton Shades giveaway, where the first 500 fans receive a pair of red aviators.  The Menace will also be recognizing Tomas Boltnar at half-time.  Boltnar is the Menace's all-time leading scorer, all-time points leader, and was awarded the MVP of the Premier Development League in 2002 & 2003.  Boltnar was a member of the Menace from 2002 to 2008 and recently retired before the start of the 2009 season.
