Des Moines, IA – The Des Moines Menace has opened its search for a head coach, as Mark McKeever and the club have agreed to a mutual buyout of his remaining contract.

"It is with a heavy heart I depart Des Moines Menace.  I have lots of wonderful memories with wonderful people!  I will never forget the fans and how they made me and my players feel over two seasons.   Sitting on the field watching the joy that the players created for the biggest crowd In history of Iowa soccer will be a picture in my mind that will last forever.  We shared the aches of losses and the joys of winning.  Being around the fans and creating their happiness is what we, as coaches, strive for.  I am forever grateful for life-long memories in Des Moines!  Thank you, Menace, and thank you, Menace supporters. You will always have a special place in my heart," said McKeever.

McKeever led the Menace for the past two USL League Two seasons, reaching an unprecedented level of success. He guided the Menace to an overall record of 27-3-1 during his tenure and departs Des Moines after winning the club’s second USL League Two National Championship, first since 2005.

"Mark certainly did an outstanding job of leading our team to a great level of success on the field and represented us with class during his time as our head coach," Co-GM Charlie Bales said. "We at the Menace would like to thank Mark for two incredible seasons in Des Moines and are excited to see what his coaching future has in store."

A national search for a new coach will begin immediately.
