DES MOINES, Iowa (Mar. 22, 2023) — The Des Moines Menace have advanced to the Second Round of the 2023 Lamar Hunt US with a 3-0 road victory over Beaman United FC.

The Menace will host Chattanooga FC, a Division 3 professional side from the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) in the Second Round.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00PM on Wednesday, April 5th at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines.

2023 marks the clubs' 15th Open Cup appearance; one of the oldest cup competitions in the world.

Modeled after England's FA Cup, the US Open Cup is a single-elimination tournament that is one of the oldest cup competitions in all of world soccer and has been the national championship for the United States since it launched in 1913. The tournament is open to professional and amateur teams from Major League Soccer to Sunday beer league teams and everything in between.

The 108th edition of the US Open Cup features 100 teams and qualification was based on the Des Moines' regular season USL2 record from last season (10-0-2) as the club finished within the Top 10 of remaining eligible teams.

The Menace are the most successful amateur team in this year's field with 12 Open Cup wins, six of those coming over professional sides.
