The Des Moines Menace proudly announce that Head Coach Troy McKerrell will be joining the Chicago Fire Academy as Head Coach of the U14 team, where he will also assist with individual development plans for older academy groups.

In his one impactful 2024 season with the Menace, Troy McKerrell guided the team to both the Heartland Division title and the Regular Season Central Conference title, showcasing a strong performance that resonated with fans and set a high standard for the team. The season concluded with a close playoff loss on the road to eventual National Runners-Up Peoria City.

"We’re incredibly excited for Troy—he’s earned this opportunity, and we know he’ll excel in Chicago," said Menace General Manager Oliver Krause. "His leadership and commitment have been inspiring. The Fire are gaining an outstanding coach and an even better person."

Reflecting on his time with the Menace, Coach McKerrell expressed gratitude for the support he received: "I hope Menace fans, alumni, and ownership are proud to have the Conference Title back in Des Moines and enjoyed our style of play this season. A huge thanks to the staff and everyone behind the scenes. My biggest hope is that we made a positive impact in the community and inspired those who looked up to us. I’m sad to leave after just one season, but I’m grateful to Oliver, owner Kyle Krause, and the entire Menace organization for their commitment to the game. My goal remains coaching at the highest level in Europe, and this is another step forward. To everyone who supported us, this isn’t goodbye—it’s ‘see you later!’"

Fans can join the Menace in celebrating another alumnus advancing from USL2 to MLS. The organization remains dedicated to being a platform for players and coaches to pursue their dreams in the professional soccer world.

The Menace are now conducting a global search for a new Head Coach. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply by submitting a resume, brief letter of interest, and strategic plan including a recruitment plan, coaching philosophy, and vision for the role via Paycom.
