Des Moines Menace Announce Charlie Latshaw III as New Head Coach

DES MOINES, Iowa (February 3, 2025) — The Des Moines Menace are excited to announce the appointment of Charlie Latshaw III as the club’s new head coach to a two-year agreement. Latshaw brings a wealth of experience in pre-professional and collegiate soccer, a history of success, and a passion for player development that aligns perfectly with the Menace’s commitment to excellence.

Latshaw joins the Menace after a highly successful tenure coaching in USL League Two, where he led both Chicago City SC and River Light FC to competitive success. Across his coaching career, his teams have consistently been among the highest-scoring in the league, maintaining an exciting, progressive style of play.

“We are thrilled to welcome Charlie to the Menace family,” said Oliver Krause, Des Moines Menace Sporting Director. “His track record of developing top collegiate and pre-professional talent, along with his commitment to community engagement, makes him the perfect leader to continue our club’s tradition of success both on and off the field.”

Latshaw’s coaching philosophy emphasizes attacking soccer, player intelligence, and a commitment to maintaining the Menace’s winning culture. His teams have never been held scoreless in USL League Two play, and he is determined to bring that same level of offensive firepower and dominance to Des Moines.

“First, I would like to thank the Krause family and Menace organization for this opportunity,” said Charlie Latshaw III. “I am honored and humbled to be entrusted with leading the Menace and maintaining the culture of excellence that has come before me. Since the start of my USL journey, I knew I wanted to be a part of the Menace organization; the club's strong values and standards closely align with my own.

“Additionally, the Menace have a special fan base who embrace the team as family, creating a truly unique environment. That relationship between the supporters and the team is what I am most excited for,” Latshaw added. “I look forward to providing the fans an attractive style of play, a team that they can be proud of, and remind everyone else: We are the Kings of the Heartland.”

Beyond his on-field accomplishments, Charlie is deeply committed to community engagement. He has actively participated in youth development programs and plans to be a key figure in fostering connections between the Menace and the Greater Des Moines soccer community.

With Latshaw at the helm, the Menace look forward to another season of competing at the highest level and preparing players for the next steps in their careers.
