MENACE NET FOUR, SECOND HALF GOALS IN GATEWAY CITY triumph.

St. Louis, MO – The Des Moines Menace (2-0-0) traveled across state lines for its first road fixture last weekend, and standing in their path was USL League Two newcomer FC Ambush. Both sides traded quality looks in the opening segments up until the 33rd minute, where Des Moines' team captain set the tone. Wreaking havoc on FC Ambush deep in their back third, Luke Husakiwsky (M | Davidson, NC) swiped the ball and confidently found the back of the net to put Des Moines up 1-0.

A breakaway sprint minutes into the second half led to a sharply placed ball in the left corner by Cade Hagan (M | Chicago, IL) for his second goal of the season, giving the Menace a 2-0 advantage. After conceding a goal in the 57th minute, a determined Menace side established firm possession. Paul Jones (D | Columbia, SC) split the defense by linking with Dominick Bachstein (F | Malvern, PA) on the near side of the box. Quickly gathering his footing, Bachstein played the ball to the far post where Andrew Shaffer (M | Columbus, OH), on a half-volley, squared a shot past the keeper to make it 3-1 Menace. Veterans Luke Husakiwsky and Leroy Enzugusi (F | Marion, IA) added goals in the final nine minutes to put an exclamation point on a dominant, 5-1 victory in St. Louis.

Quotes from Coach

"It was excellent to score five goals on the road," said head coach Charlie Latshaw III following the victory. "We certainly saw development from the first match and movement towards the style of soccer we want [the Menace] to be known for. One of the biggest takeaways for me was our depth. We've now had six different players score eight of our total goals to start the season."
