West Des Moines, IA - Local soccer was on full display at Valley Stadium last Saturday, as the Des Moines Menace hosted the Iowa Champions League All-Stars in a friendly. The Menace fielded an all-Iowa starting lineup, while the majority of the ICL All-Stars' roster consisted of former local prep and collegiate standouts.
Des Moines would net four goals in the opening half. Linn-Mar High School grad, Seth Comer, tallied the first score in the third minute. Comer, who is set to play collegiately at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, earned caps for the Menace in 2024. In front of a large cheering section, captain Leroy Enzugusi (F | Marion, IA) put the Menace up 2-0 in the 25th minute. Thomas DePaula of Shattuck St. Mary's Academy and Ty Duax (F | Ankeny, IA) rounded out the goal scoring for the Menace in the opening half.
Burying a pair of goals off the bench in the second half was Sam Green (F | Bromley, England). Menace newcomer Abdallah Traore (D | Trondheim, Norway) finished off the night with a goal in the 85th minute.
