Peoria, IL - Great Plains Division rivals duked it out for two, heart-pounding halves at Shea Stadium on Wednesday night. The opening 45 minutes consisted of end-to-end play, with both sides creating multiple scoring opportunities.
Looking to snatch momentum in the early stages of the second half, Peoria City tried to best the Menace with long ball deliveries on counters along the inner and outer channels. Des Moines' backline stood tall in each scenario, with Menace keeper Enzo Carvalho (Florianopolis, Brazil) providing back up and slamming the door shut. The Menace had moments of their own in the box off of counter attacks and set pieces, but could not find that elusive, game-sealing goal. Des Moines still holds a three-point lead in the Great Plains Division standings over Peoria City.
